Subject: | [HillmanCars] Series 1 Husky Windshield |
Hi Doug and all,
I called Sunbeam Specialties and asked for the fellow with the windshield. I was told he
doesn't have a windshield for sale. Possibly I should not have said I was calling from 3,000 miles away.
If anyone (US) has a spare windshield for a Husky Series I, or Minx series I or II, and would
like to sell it, let me know. We drive across the US summers usually, so we can pick it up (if you are patient).
I'm hoping to visit Ed Meadowcroft in April.
cheers,
Chuck

Chuck, You have to talk to Rick Mc Leod and probably buy the whole car. He wants to get rid of it as it was dumped on him. Doug

Subject: | [HillmanCars] Series II Sunbeam Rapier windscreen for Hillman Husky? |
Jan,
Did you ever have an opportunity to check your Rootes Parts List books to see if the Series II Sunbeam Rapier front windscreen would fit a Hillman Husky? (I do not have a Hillman Husky parts list book to answer this question myself).
For your information, the Rootes part number(s) for the Series I & II Rapier front windscreen are:
#H.105487 (glass – toughened)
#H.105491 (glass – laminated)
#H.111482 (glass – sundym)
The part number(s) for the Series III, IIIA & IV front windscreen are:
#2202588 (glass – laminated)
#2202587/#2218769/#2218770 (glass – toughened)
#2202589 (glass – sundym)
The windscreen on the Series III, IIIA & IV cars is approximately one inch taller than that used on the Series I & II cars.

After a few month absence from the list I'm back! My Husky book shows the following:
Series I Husky
#H.105487 (glass – toughened)
#H.105491 (glass – laminated)
No Sundym available
Husky Series II and III
2218769 LHD zone toughned
2202588 laminated
2202589 sundym
While we're talking about glass can anyone tell me where I can get windshield rubber for Rapier Series I and II glass. My Husky has the same size glass and I want to add the stainless steel trim. I've searched the world and still haven't found the right rubber. I've tried Kip's, Rootes Parts in Holland, and a few more with no luck.
Thanks, Doug Lyle
Hope this helps.

OK, got home and got to my manuals....
The Husky Series I, Minx Series I, II & III (sedan, convert & wagon), Gazelle Series I, II & III (sedan, convert & wagon) and Sunbeam Rapier Series I & II (but NOT III) sedan and convert all used the same windshield – Rootes Part Number H-105487 or H-105491 (toughened for USA & Canada).
So, you could use the Rapier Series III convertible windshield in your Series I Husky.
Unfortunately I do not have a parts book for the Series II Husky so I don't know if it uses the "early" (Series I, II & III Minx) windshield or the "later" (Series IIIA, B & C Minx) windshield.
Good luck and good parts hunting!

My Minx and Husky parts books confirm what Jan surmised.
Husky Series 2,3 windscreen = Minx 3A-3C.
